1982 – 1996
The Advent and Commercialization of AFM
Dr. Sang-il Park, as a Ph.D. student at Stanford under Prof. C.F. Quate, contributes to the invention of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). After graduation, he founds Park Scientific Instruments in the U.S., pioneering the commercialization of AFM products for research and industry.
1997 – 2007
The Next Generation AFM and Park Systems
Returning to Korea, Dr. Park establishes Park Systems to advance AFM technology with the innovative True Non-contact™ mode. The company develops next-generation AFMs, expanding their use from academia to global semiconductor applications.
2008 – 2015
Market Expansion and IPO
Park Systems broadens its product line from research AFMs to automated industrial AFMs. The company is listed on KOSDAQ in 2015 and joins imec’s Industrial Affiliation Program to co-develop in-line AFM solutions for semiconductor fabs.
2016 – 2022
Global Growth and Strategic Acquisitions
Through accelerated global expansion, Park Systems opens regional offices in Europe, China, Taiwan, and the U.S. The company strengthens its technology portfolio by acquiring Accurion GmbH (SE & AVI) and achieves recognition in Forbes Asia’s 200 Best Under a Billion list.

Diversification in Optical & Spectroscopic Solutions

Park Systems plans to open its new global headquarters in Gwacheon (2026) and a production plant in Uiwang Semiconductor Cluster (2027).
